Recommendations for your journey

Plan your journey with time in advance, the region of Aysén is one of the vastest territories of Chile and in general the distances are measured by the time you need and not in kilometres. Have in mind that big parts of the roads are gravel roads, which can be in bad conditions eventually, therefore it is recommended to use a 4×4 vehicle and drive with caution. Furthermore consider that in a lot of parts of the Carretera Austral and its connecting routes there is no phone reception, nor internet access. As well you should bring money in cash, due to the fact that lots of establishments do not have the possibility to pay with credit or debit cards and inform yourself about points of service and ATMs on your route. Finally take notice of the weather conditions can vary quickly even though it is summer.

And the most important… Enjoy your journey, respect nature and discover the local culture!
